| One in every four children is seriously overweight when their weight is adjusted for their height. Whether you are overweight or not depends on your height. You will gain weight if you take on more than you body burns up. You are what you eat!
If you eat lots of fatty or sugary foods you will need to exercise or you will grow fatter. Being overweight is very bad for your health. This can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease and diabetes.

Health and Understanding is a literacy-based series written for students in the last three years of primary school. This series provides teachers and students with the opportunity to explore a range of health topics that are involved in, and required for, a healthy lifestyle.
This series looks out our need for an active lifestyle, how health needs change as people grow, how we can develop and build relationships with others, and the personal health choices students must make for themselves in order to enjoy good health.
