The Numeracy for work titles are designed to assist students to recognise and develop everyday numeracy skills.
Numeracy for work - Number, Entry level 1 series has been specifically developed to provide tasks that are familiar and accessible to less able students, using real-world settings – a factory, a supermarket and a hotel – to put everyday numeracy skills in context. The activities are of a lower level than those in series 1 and 2, and are ideal for students who require a foundation in basic skills before progressing to higher levels.
In Number, Entry level 1, students learn numeral recognition for numbers up to 10, how to write numbers as words, counting forwards and backwards, and simple addition and subtraction.
The photocopiable work sheets are also included as a PDF on the attached CD-ROM, making them ideal resources for use on interactive whiteboards.
Tasks include: Add and subtract items and numbers; Count backwards and forwards; Match numbers; Put numbers in order; Read and write numbers up to 10; Read Roman numerals; Recognise – , + and = symbols; Recognise odd and even numbers; Use a calculator; Write and number a list.
