| “Have you got a pumpkin for a brain?” shouted the pencil.
The principal looked at Sam.
“I didn’t say that,” said Sam. “It was my pencil. It shouts at me.”
Sam gets some unexpected help with his homework. His new pencil can talk and helps with with his spelling. He takes his new pencil to school, to help him in his spelling test. Sam, however, ends up in the principal's office explaining what his pencil can do. The principal makes a decision which changes everything. Sam is in for another surprise when he hands in his maths homework.
