| Developing Literacy: Poetry is a series of three photocopiable activity books for primary school teachers. Each book provides a range of poetry activities, and supports the teaching of reading and writing skills at text, sentence and word levels.
The activities in Developing Literacy: Poetry Lower Primary encourage children to:
- Re-read familiar poems with predictable and repeated patterns
- Develop their enjoyment of familiar and new rhymes, jingles, verses and poems
- Recite poems
- Notice the structures of poems they read and understand how the language of poetry works
- Play with words, sounds, rhymes and rhythms
- Create their own poems and rhymes with the aid of the frameworks provided. |
